This study provides an overview of the nature and scope of forced marriage in the United States. Key findings illustrate that forced marriage is a serious problem in the United States with as many as 3000 cases of forced marriage identified over a two year period and service providers in 47 states having encountered cases.

This webinar features Fraidy Reiss, arranged/forced marriage survivor and founder of Unchained At Last, a New York area non-profit that supports women leaving arranged/forced marriages in the United States. In this webinar Fraidy provides an overview of how arranged/forced marriage manifests in the U.S. Orthodox Jewish community, and discusses the ways that Unchained At Last provides assistance to survivors from this and other communities.

In this webinar Anne-Marie provides an overview of forced marriage in the UK including statistics from the Forced Marriage Unit, as well as a dissection of the criminalization debate.  She also provides analysis of the issue of abandoned spouses as well as the utility and effectiveness of the UK forced marriage protection order.

This webinar features Valenda Applegarth, Senior Staff Attorney with the national Relocation Counseling and Identity Protection Initiative. The webinar discusses strategies for relocation in forced marriage cases, including how to safely stay in touch with clients, and ways that technology can assist and compromise individuals’ privacy both pre- and post-relocation. The webinar also covers the fundamentals of identity change, as well as the challenges and benefits of pursuing such an option in forced marriage cases.
